Personal Profile
Over 14 years’ experience in libraries and research, including work as editor and Information Specialist on the Cochrane Stroke Group systematic reviews project, with ongoing involvement in systematic review work. Skilled in delivering training across all levels, from basic library skills to advanced literature searching, referencing, bibliographic management, and specialised resources, through online classrooms, seminars, and one-to-one sessions. Highly experienced in advanced search techniques, including Boolean and adjacency operators, field and free-text searches, and applying rigorous methodology to healthcare and public health research. In-depth knowledge of controlled vocabularies (MeSH, MedRA, Emtree, SNOMED CT) and database interfaces (Ovid, EBSCO, PubMed, The Knowledge Network, ProQuest, Scopus, TRIP, Web of Science) enables the development of precise, reproducible, and audit-ready search strategies.
My time is divided between systematic review/ librarianship work, my workshop, and The Bull Inn.
