Read and Publish agreements offer you the opportunity to publish your work as Gold Open Access in a range of journals at no cost to yourself or your department. The fees for this type of publishing are covered by agreements the library has with publishers in combination with annual subscription fees.
These agreements may not cover all types of article, or all journal titles published by the supplier – check the appropriate website or get in touch for details of any exclusions. Most agreements cover articles in subscription (i.e. hybrid) journal titles only - fully Open Access journal titles are usually excluded.
The university currently has a number of agreements with publishers (detailed below), however this mode of publishing is constantly changing and as such information will be updated when available. In order to be approved for Open Access publishing a UWS author should be the corresponding author and, as with all research outputs, a record must be created in Pure and a copy of the accepted author manuscript (AAM) deposited as soon as possible.
Please note that certain agreements can be capped nationally and therefore if there is substantial take-up articles may not be covered at certain times of year.
