How to search
Managing your sources
As you search, you will come across multiple forms of information and this can become overwhelming. That is why it is recommended to begin managing your sources from the very beginning of your Information discovery journey. In doing so, you will find your search to be more efficient and productive, as this minimises the act of going over old ground. It will also help when creating your bibliography or reference page at the end of your paper.
The best action is to note the answers to the following questions:
- Who is responsible for the item?
- When was it made available (if the information is provided)?
- What is the title?
- Where can it be found, or what additional details help you, and others, to navigate to the item?
There are many ways to manage your sources, using a word document, excel spreadsheet or a reference management system, such as EndNote.
See our How to manage your sources guide for more details.
