Kazuo Ishiguro is a British novelist, screenwriter, and short story writer of Japanese origin. He was born in Nagasaki, Japan, on November 8, 1954, and moved to Britain when he was five years old. Ishiguro’s work has won numerous prestigious awards, including the Booker Prize, and has been translated into more than 30 languages.
He is one of the most critically acclaimed contemporary fiction authors writing in English, having been awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature. In its citation, the Swedish Academy described Ishiguro as a writer ‘who, in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world’.
