This touring exhibition is at the Ayr Campus Library and honours Dom Phillips, Bruno Pereira and others who have lost their lives while fighting to protect the Amazon rainforest. The exhibition consists of fourteen panels introducing us to Dom and Bruno and tells us about their life and their work. Dom Phillips and Bruno Pereira were murdered last year in Brazilian Amazonia while researching a book Dom was writing called ‘How to Save the Amazon’.
The exhibition introduces the dangers that the rainforest is facing from deforestation and illegal mining and fishing. The panels remind us that there are many actions that we in the global North can take to help to protect the Amazon and it showcases some hopeful solutions which Dom was researching.
Visitors are welcome to attend the exhibition at Ayr Campus.
For Dom, Bruno and the Amazon exhibition was launched at Halton Mill, Lancaster in November 2022.
"The exhibition, ‘For Dom, Bruno & the Amazon’ was put together by Alison Cahn, Domonique Davies and Rhiannon Davies, with the support of academics, journalists and filmmakers, activists and campaigning organisations from Lancaster and around the world. It honours Dom and Bruno and others who have lost their lives to this cause, and demonstrates aspects of the destruction of the rain forest, but also points to hopeful solutions and offer next steps and ways you can get involved and support positive change."
