Academic Liaison Librarian and Academic Skills Adviser for University of the West of Scotland
Hello and welcome. My name is Oliver and I am the Librarian and Academic Skills Adviser at London Campus Library, University of the West of Scotland. I am able to offer:
I co-ordinate the library service at the London Campus Library, building the print and online resources to support teaching and research, providing face to face support to students, and developing the service to ensure that the changing needs of students and staff are fully accommodated. Please contact me if you have any questions, comments, or feedback about the library service.
I’m from Exeter originally, a small city in South West England. I studied music at Dartington College of Arts in Totnes, Devon, majoring in composition, before moving up to the North to study for my MA in Librarianship at the University of Sheffield.
My first professional role was at the Jerwood Library, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, where I worked for many years as the librarian responsible for running the enquiry service and developing the printed music collections. In addition I worked as an academic services and weekend librarian at the University of Greenwich at the Avery Hill Campus Library in Eltham.
As well as working for University of West of Scotland, I have retained my weekend role at University of Greenwich, where I currently co-ordinate the library service at the Avery Hill Campus and am the Sconul Access (reciprocal borrowing scheme) representative for the university.
Prior to joining UWS, I worked at University of the Arts London, where I was responsible for heading the Customer Services team and acting as subject librarian for the media and journalism faculties.
I enjoy playing the piano and composing music in my spare time. My musical tastes are eclectic ranging across pop music, classical, opera and musical theatre styles. I am also a keen chess player.
I will be happy to arrange a one to one consultation to support learning and teaching. Please contact me via email or the self-service portal:
I am available for academic skills one to one consultations on most days.
You can book an academic skills one to one appointment with me or with one of the other academic skills advisers by visiting the Online Careers and Skills Centre (link below).
I am always happy to deliver group sessions, workshops or classes on research and academic skills. Please email me with details of the number of students, the topics you would like covered, and the mode of delivery (e.g. class, workshop, online etc.).
